It can't know for certain, and nobody can from a black-and-white photo alone. Ungray learned from millions of color photographs what skies, skin, foliage, brick and fabric usually look like. Natural things come out very reliably. Clothing, cars and painted objects are an educated guess, so treat them as plausible rather than historical record.
